Gay controversy

The topic that is garnering interest in the NFL is the draft made by the St. Louis Rams. Michael Sam is the first openly gay player that has been drafted into the NFL. In our era, we are more accepting of gay people but it still hasn't been fully embraced. Michael Sam getting drafted shows that we are slowly becoming more lenient and I hope that the system becomes more warm toward gay people.

Formation compositions

I'd like to talk about the uniqueness of the nose tackle. Nose tackles are the big men in the front of the line at the middle. Their job is to make a path for the running back to get through the defense and wreck havoc. The problem of the nose tackle position is that in this era, passing is more suited for offense and although there are a lot of good nose tackles available, they can't seem to find a spot.

NBA

I know that my blog is mostly about football but since the NBA post season is active, I wanted to share a few words on it. My favorite team is the Minnesota Timber Wolves and even though they aren't in the playoffs, I hope they recuperate and bring out a stronger team next year. Even though the Heat and Pacers are favorite to win in the playoffs, I hope the dark horse Thunder rise up on top.

Woes

Former all star Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, was released after a day in jail. He was in jail because of a DUI arrest made the day prior. I definitely think he should have got more jail time because DUI is a terrible crime. To drive drunk and endanger the lives of everyone around you is horrific and should have a dire punishment if committed. The thing to make it worse is that if the DUI culprit was just an average guy, he would have got more time but since McNabb is a celebrity superstar, he gets to get treated like royalty. I find this horribly bizarre and am very disappointed.

NCAA

As of this moment, there is a huge controversy on the financial status of the college players. College student players are trying to get paid for their athletic contribution to their school. Some schools rely on the prowess of their students from the athletic system so the students are trying to take advantage of that. Adrian Peterson, the Vikings star player, has voiced his opinion and has said that the players deserve to get paid. I personally don't think the college players should get paid because it would be too costly to pay the entire player base of the NCAA and also, where would the money come from?

Parting is such sweet sorrow

I am sad to say that DeSean Jackson, my favorite wide receiver has been traded to the Washington Redskins. It is very weird because the Eagles and Redskins are part of the same division and it may cause more havoc in the locker room because a player is going to his rival team. Jackson is a great player and I hope he flourishes in the red locker room.

I would like to blog about a certain favorite film of mine: Invincible. It is a film made by Disney about a bartender with a regular life that gets the chance to play with the Philadelphia Eagles as a free agent. It is a very inspirational film and I recommend everyone to watch it! You don't have to be a football fan or know the intricate details of the sport to enjoy it so that is a plus!

Fresh blood

Over the years, Westbrook has retired, McNabb was traded, and Andy Reid was replaced as head coach. I hope to stay positive because the Eagles are a strong team and they will bounce back again. As proved leaders of the NFC East, I hope they will rebuild much stronger with Nick Foles as head quarterback and LeSean McCoy as the runningback star.

12/19/2010

December 19, 2010 was the destined date for an epic comeback. The Philadelphia Eagles were down 21 points with 8 minutes left in the last quarter against rivals, the New York Giants. Although morale was down, Vick continued to lead the victory hungry team for consecutive touchdowns. The icing on the cake was the last play which was a return touchdown from my favorite receiver himself, DeSean Jackson. Go Eagles!

Old school dream team

Back in the day in my adolescent years, I believe that was the prime age for the Eagles. Star quarterback, Donovan McNabb, ferocious running back Brian Westbrook, and deep threat receiver, DeSean Jackson. Even though Jackson is the only player left on the Eagles at the moment, I will never forget the stardom that the three players brought together.

The Philadelphia Eagles are my favorite professional football team. Although they never won any Super Bowls, they made appearances in two and I am very proud of them. The address is called greenandsilvereagles because those are the team colors.
